Nursery

At Norfolk, our nursery is split into two phases. The first phase is called Little Norfolk, where our two year olds have their own provision. Little Norfolk has 16 morning and 16 afternoon places.

Mrs Rachel Walker is our Nursery Manager and she is supported by four Teaching Assistants. These are Miss Beaumont, Mrs Ellis, Miss Green and Miss Cardwell.

In the main Nursery we have 39 places in both the morning and afternoon session and we have flexibility to meet the need of each of our parents.

This Half Term…

This term we are going to be doing the topic ‘By The Sea’.

This is a really exciting topic for our Nursery children as we will be creating a picnic area, a seaside shop role play and developing a new sand area outside. The children will be reading the stories ‘Sharing a shell’ and ‘The Rainbow Fish’. Please read these stories at home first as it will really help the children to develop their retelling skills.

As many of our Nursery children are getting ready to go up to Reception Class, we will be having a big focus on basic maths skills such as counting objects and matching them to quantities, recognising numerals and counting forward to 10. You can help your child learn at home by playing games like rolling a dice and finding objects outside like sticks and stones to match. Going on a number hunt to find numerals around your local community. Or using websites such as ‘Topmarks’ to play interactive games together. We aim to have all children writing their names independently before they go up to reception. Keep practising at home with your child! They could write it in sand, paint or using an IPAD app, it doesn’t just have to be with a pencil!

Little Norfolk will also be doing this topic, but they will be doing some simpler books that have lots of repetitive language. They will be reading ‘Spot goes to the seaside’ and ‘The train ride’.

The 2 year olds will also be busy exploring in our new water and sand areas outside.
