Last Half Term…

We really enjoyed learning about the Great Sheffield Flood.

Y2 – Summer 1 2017

Our new topic is called the scented garden. We are really excited to start our topic and grow our own ingredients in our pizza garden to make the pizzas we design.

We are also going to be investigating the smells of plants and how they are used to make things like scented playdough and lavender bags. We will be looking at Helen Keller and what she did.

We are very excited to also learn about plants alongside this and look at how they grow and tell you lots of things about them. After the success of Spring terms Nandos homework we can’t wait to see what fantastic creations we get this half term.

It is SATS half term. Please make sure your children are in school every day. If you would like to do any practise papers with your children at home these can be found here.

If you want your child to practise in a more relaxed way try times tables Youtube videos,

Games on topmarks.co.uk or similar sites.

It would support your child’s learning if you practiced reading and writing the Y1 and Y2 key words and if you practiced the 2,5,10 and 3 times tables at home.

Also a plea. They really need to practise telling the time. Could you make them timekeepers for the morning. ( They have to read the clock at 5 minute intervals.)

In Y2 we continue learning maths through the Maths Makes Sense learning programme, building on work from Y1and the autumn term. We have got off to a flying start in Y2 this year. We still have high expectations and want all of the children to try their best. We still expect that the children read at least 5 times a week a home and complete homework every week. The work we set gives the children at opportunity to practise at home what they’ve learnt in class, and also keeps you up to date with our learning. Look out for our adventures on the class blog!

Your child needs  a full PE kit in school that will keep them warm during outdoor PE.  It is vital they have suitable trainers for PE.

Your child needs:

A White T-Shirt

Black shorts

Trainers

Jogging bottoms

A warm jumper

Thank you for your continued support.
