Who are we?
We are children from Norfolk Community Primary School. We represent each class from Y2 upwards. The classes choose their school council members in a vote that is held annually. We have one boy and one girl from each year group.
What do we do?
We help to make important decisions. We help organise different events, for instance the Christmas Charity events. Annually we support a chosen charity, that all the children vote on. Our current charity is Within Reach, a Sheffield based charity, whose mission is to assist more disabled people accessing sport, staying in sport and fulfilling their potential in the City of Sheffield.
All the money that we raise this year will go to support that charity.
What happens in a school council meeting?
We have a different chairperson for every meeting. That person’s job is to choose who is allowed to speak during each meeting. This helps the meetings because everyone gets a chance to speak and whilst they are speaking everyone else listens. We express our opinions honestly.
